Jonathon Penn
Director of Parks & Recreation
Henry County Government

Jonathon “J.P.” Penn serves as Director of Henry County Parks and Recreation, where he has held a leadership role since 2020. He previously served as Executive Director of Leisure and Public Services, overseeing several county departments, including Parks and Recreation, Senior Services, Transit, and Extension Services. With nearly two decades of experience in local government and recreation management, Penn previously served as Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of East Point. In 2022, he was recognized as the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association's District 6 Distinguished Professional of the Year.

 

Penn earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management from Morehouse College. He has completed executive and professional development programs through the University of Georgia's Carl Vinson Institute of Government, the George Harrison Executive Management School, and North Carolina State University's NRPA Directors School. He is an active member of the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association and the National Recreation and Park Association, with a professional focus on enhancing recreational opportunities, improving public facilities, and strengthening quality of life for Henry County residents.
