Dometrice “Dee” Clemmons has been eagerly working in providing public service to families in Georgia for more than a decade. Her mission began after she earned her Bachelor’s degree from Spelman College and pursued a career in education as a middle school teacher. Soon after, Dee went on to satisfy her entrepreneurial spirit by gaining experience as a business consultant to small business owners. She achieved success in developing public service programs, creating jobs, providing turn around services for failing business, and running her own companies.

Dee’s accomplishments in the business sector have provided her with the leadership skills and business acumen to lead Henry County. She was introduced to government through her experience on the First Board of the White House Points of Light Foundation where she created programs to engage college students in public service. During her campaign to win the District 2 seat of the Henry County Commission, she educated and engaged citizens in government by leading a mission that gave a voice to the people through social media, homeowners meetings and community forums. Dee won on a platform that demonstrated her commitment to public safety, and her efforts toward addressing infrastructure challenges, attracting high paying, quality jobs, working with the public schools to ensure quality education and creating quality of life initiatives for all of Henry County.

Apart from her civic duties, Commissioner Dee Clemmons is also engaged in her nonprofit organization, She Steams, a coalition of women entrepreneurs striving to educate, empower, and enlighten the next generation of women. As the founder of She Steams, Dee has teamed up with other female entrepreneurs, each with expertise in their own fields in relation to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math). Dee ensures that young women are introduced to STEAM programs from an early age because she believes that it is a necessity for girls to be exposed to not only the arts, but also the STEM fields that will dominate our future.

Dometrice is a successful businesswoman, local politician, wife, and the mother of two daughters. She is also an avid lifelong learner, a resourceful leader, and a passionate agent of change dedicated to serving others. Dee is the first African American woman elected to serve on the Henry County Board of Commissioners and is committed to working for the citizens and businesses in order to make Henry County a great place to live and work
