Coney is a seasoned business consultant with experience in private and public sectors where he has partnered with clients towards improved processes, streamlined procedures, and value-added customer services. As the City Manager for our beloved, Hampton, Georgia, he will be the Chief Administrator of day-to-day operations while at the same time helping us towards our future.
Coney comes to Hampton with more than 25 years of professional experience in community development, human resources, IT, administration, and finance. Most recently, he served as Assistant County Manager for Georgia’s fourth largest city, Macon-Bibb County Consolidated Government and as the Chief Administrative Officer for the Ben Hill County Board of Education. In addition, Coney serves his hometown community, Fitzgerald, as an elected City Councilman with prior experience as the Mayor Pro Tem and Chairman of the Finance Committee among other leadership positions.
He is a summa cum laude MBA graduate from Keller University with a concentration in Project Management and Human Resources. Coney earned his Bachelor of Science in Technical Management from DeVry University, studied Industrial Engineering at Mercer University, and graduated with an Associate of Science in Engineering Technology from Middle Georgia College. Additionally, he has received extensive municipal training and certifications from the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at The University of Georgia.
