Dometrice “Dee” Clemmons has been working to provide public service to families in Georgia for more than a decade because she believes in giving back to her community. Dee earned her Bachelor’s degree from Spelman College and decided to change course from attending law school to pursue a career in education. After enjoying a successful career in education as a middle school teacher, in 1993 Dee went on to satisfy her entrepreneurial spirit, gaining experience as a business consultant in developing public service programs, creating jobs, providing turn-around services for failing business and running her own companies.

Dee Clemmons is the President of DCL SOLUTIONS GROUP, INC, a woman-owned company that provides community outreach, training, business development services and products. Additionally she is a managing partner of Broadway Performing Arts Studio.

She has provided many years of training, community engagement, project management and economic development experience throughout the state of Georgia, serving as a CEO, key project manager, community affairs liaison and consultant, as well as in a variety of advisory roles. Dee works with leading national organizations and their administrators to garner local, state and national attention for women, veterans and the small business community. Her expertise includes developing partnerships and advocating for opportunities that are fair and inclusive for women-owned and disadvantaged small businesses, as well as developing safe and quality programs for youth.

Dee specializes in helping her community with an emphasis on public safety and quality of life. She is recognized as a mover and shaker and has been a featured keynote speaker and moderator on numerous panels nationwide.

As the District 2 elected official on the Henry County Board of Commissioners, she represents a district encompassing all four cities, with District 2 being the economic engine and home to the largest businesses in the county.

She is the founder of She STEAMS, a nonprofit organization providing opportunities and programs benefiting girls. Dee is an active board member and committee chair for GEORGIA’S WIN LIST and a board member of the Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council. She is also a member of the National Association of 100 Black Women, Spelman College Alumni Association, Georgia Women Business Council, Women Influencing Public Policy and the Amateur Ladies Golf Association.

Dee is a recipient of many prestigious organizational awards. She was named 2018 Commissioner of the Year by the Georgia Minority Business Awards, in partnership with the Atlanta Business Journal Magazine, and was honored at the 21st Annual 2018 Georgia Minority Business Awards Dinner and Reception.

Dee has effectively led local policy to level the playing field for local, veteran-owned and women-owned small businesses, as well as steered efforts to update outdated alcohol laws to align with state and local jurisdictions in order to expand business opportunities in the hospitality industry. Dee is known as a philanthropist who self-funded a community small business center to help startups.

Dee has been recognized for her community service and activism on behalf of Henry County and for her efforts to highlight equal economic opportunities and diversity through local policymaking, while putting into practice those ideals through her many endeavors, including operating an all-girls performing arts school, a janitorial supply company and a small business incubator on Eagles Landing called The Workspace Boutique. This incubator benefits small, local, women-owned and veteran-owned businesses.

Dee’s success has provided her with the leadership skills and business acumen to inspire, assist and lead other business women throughout Georgia. Dee is the first African American woman elected to serve on the Henry County Board of Commissioners and is committed to working for the citizens and businesses to make Henry County a prosperous community.
