Brian Johnson is a native to Gwinnett County, but grew up in the Home Park and Morningside neighborhoods in the City of Atlanta.  He currently serves as Deputy Director of Planning & Development with Gwinnett County where he has been since September 2018.  Prior to Gwinnett County, Brian worked with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs where he was the Director of the Office of Planning which includes the Offices of Mapping & Decision Support and Research & Surveys.   Brian also served as Deputy Director of the Senate Research Office for a decade before joining DCA in June 2014; at the capitol Brian he counseled on policy analysis and provided guidance in tax and revenue issues, regulated industries, reapportionment and redistricting, state and local government operations, and appropriations.  Additionally, Brian previously practiced law with the firm of Thompson & Sweeny in Gwinnett County until 2004. 
Brian graduated from Forest Park High School, enjoyed two great years at Young Harris College, and earned a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the Henry W. Grady College at the University of Georgia.  He holds a law degree from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in Macon.
Brian currently resides in Gainesville with his family.
