Troy Brumbalow
Mayor
City of Cumming

Troy Brumbalow, now in his second four-year term as mayor of the City of Cumming, is a professional builder and business owner. Brumbalow owns a construction company, which he founded in 1993, in which he remodels and builds custom homes. He also founded a softball bat company in 1996.

A resident of Cumming for more than 50 years, Brumbalow graduated from South Forsyth High School in 1990 as the school’s first class president and valedictorian. He attended Gainesville State College before founding his construction company.

Brumbalow married his high school sweetheart, Jodie, and they have two children: son Zach, a graduate of Forsyth Central High who recently completed his master’s degree at Mercer University; and daughter Riley, also a graduate of Forsyth Central High School, who now attends Georgia Tech.

Serving the community has always been important to Brumbalow. He has volunteered at various helping hand food programs, and served as the sergeant at arms of the North Forsyth 400 Rotary Club.

One of his top goals for the City of Cumming in the long-term is bringing back the small-town, Southern charm of the City of Cumming through the creation of the Cumming City Center filled with shops, restaurants, parks, walking trails, water features, and amphitheater. In 2018, Mayor and Council secured the site for the Cumming City Center on approximately 75 acres at 423 Canton Road. Ground was broken for the project in August of 2019 and in July of 2022, a ribbon cutting ceremony with Gov. Brian Kemp and various community leaders was held. Since then, the City Center has been filled with small, locally owned and operated shops; non-chain, chef-driven restaurants; a new Veterans War Memorial honoring all who have served our nation; and weekly entertainment and special events including concerts, fundraisers, and video presentations in the Lou Sobh Amphitheater, pop-up markets, art festivals, car shows, and more, truly fulfilling Brumbalow’s vision of making the City Center the heart of the City of Cumming!

During his tenure as Mayor, Brumbalow has also made improvements to many City ordinances, worked on upgrades and safety improvements at the Cumming Fairgrounds, made new and practical traffic improvements around the downtown Cumming square, and fostered community connections and partnerships, all while ensuring the City of Cumming continues its multiple decades of not leveraging a municipal residential property tax.
