Donnie Henriques was the first to serve as a City Council Member for Ward 6 upon its creation in 1999. He served as a City Council Member from January 2000 through December 2003. Mayor Henriques was elected in 2005 to serve his first term as Mayor. He is currently serving his fourth term in office and his third term as Mayor. His term expires on December 31, 2017. He is a dedicated advocate for the senior citizens community and has been a vital part of the growth of the William G. Long Senior Center by offering his time, compassion, and expertise.
Donnie Henriques received his BS degree in business management from LSU after serving in the US Air Force. In January 2008 he received the Bronze Certificate in the National League of Cities Certificate of Achievement in Leadership Program. He has 10 years of hospitality management experience and 20 years of sales and sales management experience.
Mayor Henriques has served on numerous fund raising committees for nonprofit organizations such as CASA, Anna Crawford Children’s Center, Meals Fur Pets and the Volunteer Aging Council.
